About ACU Guide
We are an independent informational blog dedicated to helping Canadians understand ACU and credit unions across Canada — clearly, honestly, and without jargon.
How ACU Guide Began
ACU Guide was born out of a simple frustration: there was no reliable, plain-language resource that explained how ACU — Assiniboine Credit Union — and credit unions in Canada generally operate. Most information was buried in official documents or scattered across forum posts, leaving everyday Canadians confused about fees, membership, and how these institutions differ from traditional banks.
In 2018, a small group of financial writers and educators based in Toronto set out to change that. We built ACU Guide as a purely independent, editorially-driven blog. We receive no funding from any credit union or bank, and we have no commercial relationship with Assiniboine Credit Union or any other financial institution.
"Our only goal is to help Canadians make informed decisions about ACU membership and credit union banking — with accurate, unbiased information written in plain English."
Today, ACU Guide reaches over 45,000 readers per month and continues to grow as more Canadians seek trustworthy guidance on topics like how ACU works in Canada, ACU fees, and credit union services explained in accessible terms.

Our Vision
A Canada where every person who wants to understand credit union banking — including how ACU works, its fees, and its benefits — can find that information quickly and in plain language.

Our Core Values
These principles guide every piece of content we create and every decision we make as a team.
Editorial Independence
We are funded solely through reader support and transparent affiliate disclosure — never through direct payments from any credit union, including ACU. Our content reflects honest research, not commercial relationships.
Accuracy First
Every article on ACU fees, membership details, and how credit unions work in Canada is fact-checked against primary sources before publication. We update our content whenever official information changes.

Financial topics can be complex. We write for real people, not industry insiders. Our goal is to explain ACU Canada guide topics in language anyone can understand, regardless of their financial background.
Reader Privacy
We respect our readers' privacy completely. We do not collect or sell personal financial data. Our site is designed to inform, not to harvest information for third-party commercial use.

Credit union regulations and ACU policies evolve. We commit to reviewing and refreshing our guides regularly so readers always have access to up-to-date, reliable information about credit unions in Canada.
